The staff of the Institute have been involved over many years in running local and regional programmes for adult Christian education, including:
- Lent courses
- Summer schools
- Saturday study days in theology
- Adult education classes in local prisons
- Ecumenical lectures at Darlington, Durham, Newcastle and at Ushaw College
- Basic Christian education courses at Killingworth, Benwell and Elswick districts of Newcastle-upon-Tyne
- Cambridge Certificate and Cambridge Diploma in Religious Studies
- Ecumenical Christian education courses at Darlington, Carlisle, Sunderland, Barnard Castle, Berwick, Newcastle and Holy Island
- Courses for St John’s College Extension Programme and FISOU, Durham
- Certificate in Lay Theology, University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne
- University of Durham Adult and Continuing Education courses
- University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Adult and Continuing Education courses
- Residential conferences for parishes in dioceses of Newcastle, Durham, York and Carlisle
- Study days for churches and regional courses in County Durham, Tyneside, West Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire and Wales
- Contributions to Lindisfarne’s, ‘Living Theology Today’ programme
A wide range of adult Christian education materials have been written for these programmes, as well as multi-media resources (for example tape-slide presentation on baptism, and computer simulations).
